Hello all.
I just found a copy of a vacuum tube manual that was developed to
help technicians keep radio equipment running when drop-in replacement
parts were not available. It not only gives the charistics of the
original tube but gives charistics of tubes with similar properties even
though the bases and pin configurations are different. The object was to
get the radio running, not necessarily restore it. If any of you OLD
guys ( like me ) out there are puttering with getting even older radios
running, this book can be of value. Have a look, and if you think it
might be useful, bookmark it, if not then just ignore it. I found it
looking for some 201's for my Deforest Crosley DC-5, an discovered that
there are several tubes that I could use instead, however the object for
the Deforest is to restore it, not just to get it running. One option
here though is to build adaptor sockets to use some of the subs to get
it running until I can find replacements. I can buy 201's, but, five of
them at about fifty bucks a pop, I will wait.
Rick
