[Members] Kenwood TS-130S - HELP -

I have a question about a Kenwood TS-130S I picked up - when I screw on a
regular coax male connector (PL-259?) to the rig's coax antenna connector
(SO-239?), the inside section of the PL-259 connector won't tighten up -
once the outer shell of the connector is on as far as it can go and is
tight, I can wiggle the inside (ground) part of the connector easily -
there's about 3/8 inches of thread available on the chassis female connector
to thread on - what am I missing please? - 72 Bruce.  - no manual -
