It's that time of year again! Time to visit the cool mountains of Northern
Arizona for the ScQRPions annual get together at the Arizona State ARRL
Convention in Williams, Arizona near Flagstaff.

Once again we have an outstanding group of speakers and fun things for
Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7. The campground at Kaibab Lake is
reserved and available beginning the afternoon of Thursday, July 5 through
Sunday, July 8. Bring the fly rod, get the required Arizona fishing
licenses and do some trout fishing. String some wire and play radio.

Friday will find the ScQRPions at their spot in the flea market with a
canopy, big sign, tables and chairs, kits, shirts, refreshments, and
whatever anyone drags out to show off or try to sell. Drop by to rest, pick
up a kit, yak, wet your whistle, or whatever. Friday evening we will
adjourn to one of the local eateries for supper.

Saturday is the biggest day for us at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in the
Santa Fe room. The hotel is very near the rodeo grounds that hosts the
hamfest and easy to find. We are honored to have Dr. Bob Armstrong (N7XY),
Doug Hendricks (KI6DS), Dan Tayloe (N7VE), and others on the program. There
will be pastries, fruit trays, juice, and coffee for the early birds and
snacks and drinks throughout the day. We'll take a lunch break around 11:30
and you can forage around town for lunch. Lots of places to eat within one
to three blocks walk. There will be drawings for gifts after each talk and
other unannounced surprises.

Toys. We have toys. SSB/CW transceivers, antennas, antenna modeling
software, paddles, fiberglass antenna poles, tuners manual and automatic,
and lots lots more at the picnic Saturday night. Prize trading is tolerated
subject to considerable uninvited assistance and derision (found my
dictionary) in making your side deals. Just ask anyone at last year's
event.

The picnic is a cookout with safe facilities for charcoal and wood fires.
Dry does not even begin to describe the condition of our forests. Tables
and seating is open, but well covered, should there be rain. Bring your own
meat to cook; the ScQRPions supply everything else, right down to such
details as the ants and skeeters. You will be relieved to know they are NOT
fire ants since they require special handling.

The ScQRPions website (http://www.azscqrpions.org) is generally correct
except for prizes and program. ALL maps and event locations are accurate
and still valid. Details have been outlined here and will be updated on the
website. Times and final program events will be set within the next few
days.

No tickets to buy; no coupons to fill out; no small bribes accepted. Just
brought yourself on over, set a spell, and pass a good time. Hope to see
you there.
