HydroOne + etc.'s plan for smart power meters may be causing interference...

So you thought BPL was the potential problem........
Recently I have noted an increase in interference on 40 metres. These
digital pulses are now continuous at an S1 to S3 at or around 7.05 mhz
and 7.10 mhz.; the higher frequency bands do not appear to be affected.
Ontario has implemented the migration of smart meters to all households
and my area is undergoing the process.
The smart meters allegedly transmit on 900 mhz. As such, I would find
it unlikely that a 900 mhz signal without transmitted harmonics mixing
with the IF of my ICOM 735, ATS 3 or MMR 40 would result in hearing
interference on 40 metres.
As such, can any of the members edify me with respect to a 900 mhz
signal affecting 40 metres and any other smart meter HF related
probems? Of course if the meter is generating lower frequency
harmonics, then we have a smart meter problem.
Gary
