Jeff,
That sounds like a great DXepedition. Best of luck with it. I guess you
won't be at the LobsterCon this year. Or maybe you will be eating your own
lobster in NL.
For what it's worth, this piece entitled "vertical learnings" (how I
hate that word) at www.k2kw.com/verticals/learning.html has some interesting
records of DXepeditions using vertical arrays. I can't recall if it talks
about supporting structures. I am playing with parasitic elements for my
vertical, but not seriously yet.
I am working on car-portable supporting bases for verticals myself. I am
currently looking at a medium-size RubberMaid container that I would put
holes in to be able to slide stabilizing arms into it, and a hole or pvc
pipe inside to support the vertical. The container could be weighted with
(nearby?) rocks or water as well for added stability. The container would do
duty as an equipment carrier otherwise.
